Abstract The article examines migration trends that developed in 2024 and early 2025 in the context of the Far Eastern subjects of the Russian Federation and in the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) as a whole. Official publications and operational data of Rosstat, reports of regional executive authorities exercising powers in the field of employment promotion, and data from regional departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation were used as information sources. It was established that, despite the persistence of the population decline trend in the FEFD, a positive shift was observed by the beginning of 2025, manifested in a slowdown in the rate of decrease. This change is due to the results of migration exchange, primarily with countries near and far abroad. At the same time, interregional migration remained a factor in population decline. It is shown that the observed migration dynamics are the result of the interaction of statistical, legal, and economic factors. The results of the implementation of the program of labor mobility and the program for the resettlement of compatriots from abroad were examined. Changes in the regulatory framework governing foreign labor migration in 2024–2026 are summarized. There is an increase in the number of regions that have approved lists of economic activities closed to the employment of foreign migrants working under patents, an expansion of these lists in regions that have already established such restrictions, a reduction in permissible shares of foreign workers in certain industries, and an increase in the quota allocated to the FEFD for the employment of workers from visa-required countries.
