| Abstract | This article examines current demographic trends in the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) and its constituent entities using official statistics, expert information, and analytical data. Available operational statistical data for 2024–2025 are used to examine key components of natural population dynamics: fertility and mortality, as well as migration flows. It is found that the negative natural increase, resulting from a decline in the birth rate to historically low levels and persistently high mortality, is partially offset by a positive migration balance. Particular attention is paid to the regional differentiation of demographic processes, identifying entities with divergent dynamics. Structural changes in fertility, expressed in the faster growth of third and subsequent births compared to second births, and the factors that determine them, including pro-natalist policies, are examined in detail. The study concluded that negative trends in natural population reproduction persist and that further adaptation of regional demographic policy is necessary. Monitoring is complicated by limited access to detailed statistics. |
