Abstract This article examines the methodological aspects of organizing research in the Russian Far East within the «scientific school» format. It examines the formation of an intellectual paradigm for the Economic Research Institute FEB RAS by the founder and leader of this scientific school – RAS Academician, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor P.A. Minakir. The functional content and direction of academic selection of theoretical, methodological and personnel potential in the specific institutional and organizational conditions of development of a problem region are shown. The consolidating role of the «scientific school» format for the formation and practical implementation of a regional research program, and the implementation of expert and consulting work in the Far Eastern region of Russia is highlighted.
