Abstract	For the Donetsk People’s Republic, coal, metallurgy, energy and machine-building industries have been and still are priority industries. Since the state of technological and production potential of other sectors of the economy, the filling of the consumer market, technological sovereignty and the defense capability of the state depend on the level of development of mechanical engineering, the restoration of enterprises of the machine-building industry of the Republic is one of the primary tasks. The prospects for the socio-economic development of the Donetsk People’s Republic as a new region of the Russian Federation determine the need to use effective tools for the restoration and development of industry enterprises. One of the most effective tools is the formation of industrial clusters. The subject of the research is a cluster approach to the restoration and development of machine-building enterprises of the Donetsk People’s Republic. The purpose is to substantiate the feasibility of forming industrial clusters for the restoration and development of the region’s engineering industry. The factors contributing to and hindering the formation of clusters in the Donetsk People’s Republic have been identified, and a technological scheme for an interregional engineering cluster project has been proposed.
