Abstract The article is devoted to the assessment of the relationship between the development of sea transport and the growth in the scale of production of the economy of the Khabarovsk Territory. The features of the transformation of the sea transport of the Khabarovsk Territory in 2000–2019 are analyzed. The problems of quantitative imbalances in seaports and the fleet, which led to significant economic losses in the economy of the Khabarovsk Territory, have been studied. Forecast estimates of the cargo turnover of the ports of the Khabarovsk Territory and the need for the sea fleet have been made, ensuring the balanced development of sea transport and effective communication with the economy of the region.
