Abstract The article discusses the development of agriculture of the Republic of Buryatia in 1990–2017. A sharp drop in production was noted in 1990–2005, and then production growth until 2012, with subsequent relative stabilization of the latter at a low level. There is a close dependence of agricultural production on the size of investments and state support of agricultural producers. With the necessary financial sustainability of enterprises, a significant increase in agricultural production is possible.
