Abstract The article discusses the influence of administrative, political and social myths on the post-Soviet development programs of the Far Eastern region. An attempt is being made to deconstruct these mythological ideas in order to answer several crucial questions: What is the Far East? What does it mean to develop the Far East? How can this development be organized?
