| Abstract | The paper analyzes investment in transport in Russia from 2000 to 2024 to identify established patterns. Using official statistical data and the structural shift method, three components of these shifts (national, regional, and sectoral) are assessed during periods of relatively stable and crisis-like dynamics of the national economy by federal districts. It is shown that during periods of relative economic stability, the national component (which assesses the correspondence of sectoral investment growth rates to the parameters of overall investment in the national economy) had the greatest influence on the dynamics of investment in transport. Meanwhile, during periods of economic crises and unstable conditions, the regional component predominates in the structure (with the exception of the period 2022–2024). It is shown that the development of transport infrastructure in the Russian Federation is taking place within the framework of general trends and is not proactive. At the present stage, an important factor in the spatial distribution of investments in transport is the role of a particular macroregion in fulfilling the national task of ensuring foreign economic relations of the country in the new geopolitical conditions. |
