Abstract | The article analyzes resource efficiency in forest management from the standpoint of preserving natural capital and the efficiency of wood use. The objects of the study are the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District with the most developed forest industry complexes, rich in forest resources and gravitating towards main transport routes. The study period is from 2018 to 2023, which allows considering the functioning of the forest complex in different economic conditions. The study showed that in the area of preserving natural capital as a whole, there were no significant changes in the dynamics of the indicators reflecting this area during the study period. The efficiency of wood use, measured by indicators of productivity, intensity and degree of its use, although not stable, nevertheless, in general during this period there was an increase in productivity, a decrease in the resource intensity of manufactured products, an increase in the degree of wood use, which from a formal point of view can be assessed as a positive trend in the response of the complex to the policy of stimulating increased processing of raw materials. It was revealed that the dynamics of resource efficiency indicators were influenced by a decrease in activity in the logging industry due to tightening customs regulations on timber exports. In addition, the effect of institutional measures for the development of wood processing was blocked to a certain extent by foreign economic sanctions with still weak domestic demand for its products. It is concluded that the application of the considered indicators can be used in more stable economic and institutional conditions as a benchmark for increasing the effectiveness of forest management. |
