Abstract A critical analysis and generalization of foreign and domestic empirical works which devoted to the study of regional socio- economic dynamics are showed the absence of a single methodological platform. The diversity of research interests, as the multifaceted nature of regions, determines the consideration of dynamic socio-economic processes at different levels, the use of various methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis, different breadth of coverage of the analyzed processes, the use of both systems of indicators and various complex integral indices. Not all studies meet such important conditions as the relevance and applicability of the proposed methods for analyzing regional socio-economic dynamics.
