Abstract	Material written by the outstanding Russian economist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor Pavel Aleksandrovich Minakir (1947–2023) in 1990 and used in the preparation of the Concept of Long-Term Development of the Far East, is published. The strategic directions for the formation of a special model of the functioning of the Far East, capable of ensuring regulation and adjustment of the regional system in each direction, are considered. Options for building a new economic policy in this region have not lost their relevance at the present stage of development.
