Abstract The article examines the assessments of the investment and production-technical potential of the mineral resource complex of the Russian Far East and individual Far Eastern regions in the context of comparison with another component of industry – manufacturing. The investment activity trends, availability and directions of formation of fixed assets for the identified structural elements of industry that developed in 2019–2022 are shown. The differences in macroregional and regional characteristics of the investment potential under consideration are revealed in comparison with national trends. The predominance of most structural and dynamic characteristics of the investment and production-technical potential in the raw materials sector is shown, which to a certain extent reduces the possibilities of a structural transition in the industry of resource regions.
