Abstract	Material written by the outstanding Russian economist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor Pavel Aleksandrovich Minakir (1947–2023) in 1990 and used in the preparation of the Concept of Long-Term Development of the Far East, is published. The strategic directions for the development of the productive forces of the Far Eastern economic region are considered, taking into account probable changes in general economic policy and the economic situation in the short and long term. Approaches to building a new economic policy in this region have not lost their relevance at the present stage of development.
