Abstract | The article examines the indicators of demographic development (fertility, mortality, marriage rate, divorce rate) of the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) and its constituent entities of the Russian Federation during the spread of the new coronavirus infection pandemic (2020–2021), the aggravation of the geopolitical situation, sanctions restrictions and partial mobilization (2022). It is shown that the consequences of the pandemic were reflected in the birth rate with some lag; the depth of the decline intensified in the first half of 2022. The marriage and divorce rates of the population decreased during the lockdown, but increased sharply after quarantine restrictions were lifted. The surge in mortality in 2020–2021 led to the fact that for the first time in a long time, the population decline in the macroregion was largely due to natural decline. In 2022–2023, the mortality rate decreased, but remained above pre-pandemic 2019 levels. In 2022, against the background of a reduction in the overall mortality rate and in terms of classes of causes (respiratory diseases, digestive diseases; infectious diseases; diseases of the circulatory system; neoplasms), mortality from external causes increased, especially in the Far Eastern regions of the Russian Federation with low incomes (Republic of Buryatia, Trans-Baikal Territory, Jewish Autonomous Region). |
