Abstract The material was prepared on the basis of the author’s speech at the XII International Conference «Forest Resources Protection and Rational Use», held in Heihe (Heilongjiang Province, China), organized jointly by the Far Eastern State Agrarian University (Blagoveshchensk, Russia) and Chinese partners – the People’s Government of Heihe City District, Heilongjiang Provincial Forestry and Steppe Department, Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The situation in the forest complex of the Russian Far East, under the influence of internal and external shocks, as well as the measures of its state support, has been studied. The place and role of China in timber exports of the Far Eastern Federal District are analyzed, the forms of Russian-Chinese trade and investment cooperation and their impact on the future development of the forest complex are considered.
