Abstract The article analyzes the dynamics of the main parameters of the human potential of the Far Eastern Federal District in the new territorial boundaries. A comparative analysis of demographic parameters, indicators characterizing the standard of living of the population. It is shown that, according to the main quantitative parameters of human potential, the subjects included in the Far Eastern Federal District are characterized by low incomes, low purchasing power and are characterized by an increased level of poverty. While maintaining the prevailing trends, achieving accelerated rates of economic development in the Far East, declared a priority of state regional policy at the present stage, may be faced with limitations caused by the low level of human development.
