Abstract The Russian Far East is currently an object of an active economic policy of the state. One of the priorities of the effectiveness of the socio-economic development of the region is improving the quality of life and creating comfortable living conditions and employment. The purpose of the study is to assess changes in the quality of life of the population of the Far East in 2005–2017. At the same time, the specificity and novelty of the study consist in the addition of quantitative indicators to qualitative assessments. The economic-statistical and sociological (full-time questionnaire survey) methods are used.
