Abstract The article provides an overview of existing international and Russian approaches to measuring the «green» economy. The principles, goals and indicators of measuring «green» growth in relation to resource regions are considered. On the example of the forest sector, approaches to assessing the implementation of the goals and objectives of its movement towards the «green» economy, as well as indicators for measuring «green» growth in the sector, are investigated. Conclusions are drawn that for the transition of resource regions to the trajectory of «green» development, institutional mechanisms and tools based on adapting existing methodological approaches to specific economic, regional, structural features are needed.
