Abstract The article describes the main instruments of economic policy development of the Far East at the federal level, created and applied in the region based on the objectives set in the State program «Economic and social development of the Far East and Baikal region until 2025». The description is given of such institutional innovations as the tterritory of advanced development, the free port of Vladivostok, and the «Far Eastern hectare». An assessment of current problems in the implementation of policies is given, as well as suggestions are made regarding the relationship between these institutional innovations and regional economic security.
