Abstract Based on open sources, the factors that influenced the dynamics of foreign trade indicators of the Far Eastern Federal District in the first half of 2023 were identified. It is shown that, in general, the foreign trade of the macroregion reflected all-Russian trends – a decrease in exports and an increase in imports. Among the factors that determined the exports, the following were highlighted: a reduction in demand from countries that are the main importers of Far Eastern products, due to sanctions pressure; unfavorable price conditions for almost all main commodity items of Far Eastern exports; export restrictions introduced in the Russian Federation from 2022. The increase in import supplies through the FEFD was significantly influenced during this period by the reorientation of commodity flows from the western regions.
